When we push the doors of the hotel, the central staircase invites us to take height. Instinctively, our eyes look up and we discover a huge glass roof that bathes in light and sublimates the already grandiose Salle des Pas Perdus. Famous architect Jean-Phillippe Nuel transformed this iconic building into a modern and beautiful hotel. All around the balustrade, sofas invite you to sit down for a drink or to read a book. And in the center of the room, Chef Erwan Noblet’s Restaurant “A Partager” welcomes us for a moment of conviviality around dishes to share with loved ones — or others.
The neoclassical columns, the black and white checkerboard on the floor — representing good and evil, and the inscriptions above the huge doors, elements of the past, blend perfectly with the modern furniture, while reminding us of the primary function of this emblematic place of the city of Nantes.
The elevator takes us to the second floor. We follow the corridor dotted with colors, to our Premium Room that we have reserved. The room is spacious and has a very comfortable large double bed, a flat-screen TV, a Nespresso coffee machine, a bathrobe and slippers, individual adjustable air conditioning and a superb view of Place Aristide Briand. Perfect to see the sunrise in the early morning from our window while drinking our coffee!
After a good night’s sleep, we are ready to start a new day and visit Nantes. But first, we enjoy the (hearty) breakfast! You can take it in the former courthouse of the 19th century where it is presented as a full buffet, or in your room. Your can choose between pastries, cheese, cold cuts, cereals, bread, cakes, fresh fruit juice… enough to start the day off right. Big crush for the waffles and the mushroom omelette which are simply delicious! We’re still salivating.
